Cold Turkey is a simple tool that helps you avoid procrastination. It can be used to temporarily block any website (social media, forums, gaming site, etc.), application and game that may distract you and stop you from doing the important stuff, like working or studying.
One of the things I like the most about Cold Turkey is the fact that it allows for creating 3 different groups containing blocked websites, and you can enable any of them at any time. Every group can be configured to be blocked at certain times, according to your schedules and preferences.
When it comes to reliability, Cold Turkey deliveres. I chose to test it by blocking Facebook, and after enabling the blocking, Facebook couldn’t be loaded by any of my installed web browsers. Unfortunately some browsers might need to be restarted in order for the changes to take effect. Cold Turkey is also very easy-to-use and simple, so even complete beginners can use it without any problem.
I’m also a bit disappointed that the free version of this application doesn’t support blocking applications too. In order to be able to block applications or use wildcards and exceptions, purchasing a license is required. Anyway, the free version is still pretty handy, even if it comes with the aforementioned limitations.
To sum it all up, I’d say this neat application is worth trying, as it provides a convenient and reliable method to better control your work/study time.
